We’re dedicated to safety and support, building strong bonds through teamwork and a shared commitment to our neighbors.

A valid candidate for membership must:

  • Be eighteen (18) years of age or older

  • Must be of good character, sound in mind and in adequate physical condition.

  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurance.

  • Possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must reside within the department’s response area.

  • Any applicant that lives outside of the response area will be reviewed by the hiring board for approval

  • Applicants must not have been charged with a felony or convicted of a Class A or B misdemeanor in the last five (5) years prior to submitting an application.

  • Conviction of a felony or other serious offenses will be cause for rejection of the application.

  • Serious offenses include but are not limited to:

    • domestic violence

    • offences of a sexual nature and theft.

  • Applicants shall not be under probation at the time of applying.

  • All contact with law enforcement must be disclosed on membership application unless applicable by law (sealed, expunged, etc.). This does not apply to minor traffic violations

  • Applicants must submit to a drug screen by urinalysis if requested. A positive drug screen may result in rejection of the application.

  • Applicants with medical conditions that could potentially pose a safety risk to the applicant or other members must be evaluated and cleared by a physician prior to joining the Crabb’s Prairie VFD.

  • Applicants shall submit documentation signed by their physician stating:

    • The applicant has been evaluated within the last three months from date of application

    • Is able to safely perform his/her prospective position duties

    • The applicant’s condition is not likely to deteriorate in the near future.

  • Applications will be reviewed by the CPVFD hiring committee and if approved, the applicant will be contacted to arrange an onsite interview.
