PAID DUTY CREWS


The Crabbs Prairie Volunteer Fire Department (CPVFD) is taking applications for our newly offered paid duty crew operating 7 days a week on 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00 (7am to 7pm)
Part-Time Firefighter/EMT (12Hr Shifts)
Supervisor/Command: CPVFD Fire Chief or their designated representative
Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $15.00- $18.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Fire Chief or their designee, the position will perform firefighting duties, EMS duties, rescue operations and hazardous material operations.
Adhere to the Crabbs Prairie VFD and WCESD #3 rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
This position must be able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision or direction.
The individual will perform other work as directed and requested by the Fire Chief or other ranking officer.
Qualifications:
Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Basic Structure Firefighter certification
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) - EMT Basic
Texas Driver’s license Class (A, B, or B Exempt)
Must be able to bid/request four 12hr shifts a month
Duties & Responsibilities:
Respond to all dispatched calls (Fire and EMS) while on duty including mutual aid calls for service throughout the CPVFD/ESD3 district.
Working in concert with department volunteers.
Assist with the performance of fire suppression functions including firefighting, rescue operations, deploying and operating hoses, ventilating roofs, performing salvage work after fires, pre-fire planning, participating in hazardous materials mitigation response, and other related tasks associated with fire suppression, rescue operations and hazardous material response.
Administer emergency medical services when requested in accordance with State and Authority having Jurisdiction policies, procedures and protocols.
Assist with and perform operational readiness evaluation on the fire apparatus to ensure it is always fully prepared and functional, inventory equipment and tools, including the drive train, brakes, lights, fire pump, tires, radios, SCBA operational checks, and all fluid levels upon reporting for duty.
Prepares and submits fire reports, daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports, daily check sheet logs, etc. via electronic or written reports.
Perform minor equipment maintenance on apparatus and general cleaning of apparatus and station quarters.
Communicate professionally with other employees, officials, and the public.
Informs supervisor of all work activities and reports any public inquiries or complaints.
Informs supervisor of any equipment in need of repair and of all public injuries or accidents.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief or other officers of the department.
Required to report for work punctually and work all scheduled hours.
Basic Job Skills:
Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of the practices, processes, materials and tools associated with the vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
Ability to operate a variety of manual, gas, and electrically powered hand tools, equipment and machinery.
Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment used in the fire service.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, and the public.
Ability to maintain maintenance logs and required reports.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Knowledge in basic computer applications and systems.
